About the Giraffe

A coloured pencil study of the world tallest mammal. These beautiful animals live all across Africa in a variety of habitats from dense forest to open plains, wherever trees occur. With their long necks reaching up to 2.4m high, they are uniquely adapted to reach vegetation other herbivores cannot. Currently considered vulnerable, giraffe populations have been decreasing due to habitat loss, civil unrest and illegal hunting. To increase the numbers, many organisations are working hard to educating communities about sustainable practices and reforest areas, planting their preferred acacia trees to provide more food for the giraffe to expand its habitat.
