I'll be diving into the world of wildlife art, interviewing wildlife artists, documenting fundraisers and sharing all that I can to help other artists support conservation with their work.
I'm Zoe, a wildlife and pet portrait artist from the UK. I've been a full time artist for almost three years and in that time have tried to support as many wildlife conservation projects as possible through my work. With each year I've wanted to do more, but felt held back for one reason or another; either through lack of sales, limited time due to home schooling during lockdowns or a full diary of commissions. I've made a point this year of trying to use my time as efficiently as possible, to fulfil the goals I've had for years and finally get the ball rolling in the right direction.
Through social media I have met some incredible artists and have always found it a source of inspiration to help raise awareness and support wildlife conservation. I have wanted to use the platform to connect with others for some time, but found it to be quite challenging to step out of my comfort zone. As a new years resolution, I've tried to push past those fears and have jumped right into it, chatting live on Instagram, joining art conservation groups and planning and producing work to donate and enter into conservation charity exhibitions. I'm sure there will be ups and downs in the journey ahead, but I'm so excited to get stuck in and do as much as I can.
This blog has been inspired by Alex Flemming, who I approached as one of the artists to interview. Alex preferred a written format to share his story and answer questions, and so... here we are. It's amazing how one small idea can ripple into so many, as it has given an opportunity that I have overlooked for so long. I have so many things that I can't wait to share and I hope you will enjoy following along with me!
