Eqqus Quagga | Zebra
Using acrylic on linen canvas, Zoe has created a portrait of a plains zebra.
The plains zebra, also known as the common zebra, is a magnificent creature found primarily in the grassy plains and savannas of Africa. It is characterized by its striking black and white striped coat, which acts as excellent camouflage against predators. The plains zebra is a social animal and often forms large herds that roam the plains together. It has a unique vocalization called a bray, which sounds like a combination of a bark and a whinny. Known for their agility and speed, plains zebras can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour when running away from danger. Despite their widespread presence in Africa, the plains zebra is unfortunately facing several threats including habitat loss and illegal hunting. Conservation efforts are important to ensure the survival of this iconic species.
